I recently wrote a blog outlining my 5 top charity shop shopping tips, so I thought it was only right to share my top tips for other preloved shopping avenues. I'm sure most people have been to a bootfair before but I am going to share some tips to make the most of those Sunday morning bargain hunt.
Tip #1 - Know your local bootfairs
Before you start hunting for bootfair finds you need to know where to go, when to go and what you need. Be sure to google and check where your local bootfairs are and when they start. They will usually be every Sunday and bank holiday starting in April/May. However, if Sundays are a busy day for you many sites have Saturday bootfairs or maybe you don't like waking up early, you can find a lot of afternoon bootfairs too.
Tip #2 - Be prepared
Make sure you're prepared before you go to a bootfair making sure you have enough cash to purchase the great things you find. I would also suggest taking your own tote bag and hand sanitiser on your shopping trips.
Tip #3 - Keep your eyes peeled
Boot sales can be an overwhelming place sometimes, with lots of stalls on both sides it can be easy to miss things. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled at all times, looking up and down at stalls as some things will be on rails, tables and the ground. I always suggest if you have time to go up and down each side of the aisle or go around twice to make sure you haven't missed something great.
Tip #4 - Don't be afraid to ask
A lot of bootfair stalls will not have labelled prices on all of their items, some will and that's great to see but some will not. In this case, don't be afraid to ask for prices or any other information you need. No one will be offended if you say no and put it back down.
Tip #5 - Have fun
Make sure you enjoy you're time hunting at bootfairs, sometimes you will find loads and sometimes there's nothing for you. It's all about enjoying the hunt and having an exciting morning looking for those fantastic finds.
